Well. It's official.
I was told today by my Commanding Officer that I got my wish. I am going back to the litterbox. I am going to Iraq in a few months.
I have mixed emotions. The year I have been at home since Afghanistan has been pretty draining. My personal life is more exhausting than being overseas. I opened up and got burned here at home. Trust is a easily lost thing. I trusted and got stuck big time. Now I have my own personal DMZ around me. Going over to a war zone has a habit of making personal problems seem small. I can focus attention on the job at hand and can do what I need to do to so my personnel and I make it home safely.
Excited and exhausted at the same time. Great for my career, but can "accelerate your life" all the way to the end. Dead is no place to be.

Exhausted, weary traveler.
Just arrived home from working on a detachment in Jacksonville Florida. The days as an "observer" kind of sucked. Doing nothing but watching what was going on is really really boring.
My layover going home was in NYC at Kennedy airport.
I am always vigilant at big airports like O'Hare and JFK. You never know who you are going to see.
This time I was eating breakfast at a sports bar near my Jet Blue gate. In walks a rather loud couple. Loud enough to stop all conversations in a busy establishment on a busy concourse at a busy airport. That loud.
I recognized the guy was Peter Greene, better known as "Zed" from the movie "Pulp Fiction".
I did not know his name, but rather recognized the face. I have never been good at names, but faces I never forget.

They were in and out of the bar so fast I did not get a chance to ask for an autograph or a photo. I sometimes feel inappropriate asking. I think, "would I want to be bothered if I were (insert name here)"? It just did not feel like a good moment. You also never know how someone will react when drinking too.

Been a while
Hey y'all,
Been a while since I had something to say. Still don;t have anything to say or cool stuff I've seen to talk about. I've been workin hard and puttin in some real long hours.
Hopefully I'll have more to talk about here in a few weeks.
Stay tuned. Same time, same channel.
